Silver cabinet string source?

Post by rfgordon »

Hey, y'all,

It seems I can find lots of vendors for gold cabinet string, but I can't find the same style (silver braid in clear sheath) for silver cab string.

Anybody got a source?

I recently received two ODS cabs with silver braid around the grille.

See pic. Empty one on top. I got these from Jelle Welagen so he would know where to get this exact braid.

Mojo has it in small, medium, and large:

NorthCoast has gold and sliver for vox and Marshall. It sounds like you may want the bigger stuff.

The medium and large is the type you wanted with the silver braid in a clear sheath. The small is silver colored. The small gold is 'gold' (somewhat greenish) colored. I've never seen small gold or silver with braid inside FWIW.

Unfortunately, the Mojotone stuff, without the lip, is silver-colored plastic, which is really kind of grey looking. It's not nearly as nice as the silver braid in clear, like the gold stuff. Thanks for the link to the Vox stuff site. The picture is so small, I can't tell if that's the stuff I want.

In the past I've cut the lip off--that's hours with a razor I'd rather not lose again!

You need to ask Jim from Southbay Ampworks. It looks like he used silver string with braid in this Marshall cab redo:
