Doubt in OD #40
I was looking at pictures of OD stage # 40 and comparing with his scheme.
I have a doubt ... There are two resistors (maybe 220K) wired with the plate resistance.
please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe not quite understand the picture....then....What are those two resistors between the cathode and ground?

Re: Doubt in OD #40
To me it looks like a mod to increase the plate resistances to 320K each and the resistors across the cathodes decrease the cathode resistorances of the two overdrive stages. Must be super gainy. Not sure how this will sound. I do not expect much good.
Re: Doubt in OD #40
I posted that pic a long time ago, obviously someone wanted to decrease the bias on the od stages, prob for easier breakup

Re: Doubt in OD #40
I notice that the purple wire on the nearer triode stage appears to be taking the signal off the top of the 100K where it attaches to the original 220K, so reducing the signal output gain on that side. The other side appears to be taking the full 320K modded level gain, assuming that the purple wires are the signal takeoff.
I agree with Jelle though, 320K is awful high gain.

Some people make music, some make other stuff, it's not the most radical thing i've ever seen--
Re: Doubt in OD #40
Ok, I looked too fast. That purple wire is B+. So OD1 has 420K plate and OD2 has 220K plate.

you think the photo was manipulated?
Re: Doubt in OD #40
That photo is not from the #40 picture set.
Re: Doubt in OD #40
I agree that the attached pic is not #40. For starters, the attached pic has what looks like Stackpole CC at the Deep & R/J switches, whereas #40 has Piher CFs. In addition #40 has MF6C metal films on the cathodes, this one doesn't.ic-racer wrote:That photo is not from the #40 picture set.

what amplifier is? what is the schema of that amp?
Re: Doubt in OD #40
I got the pix from a guy overseas, several years back, did not get the #
