Kill switches anyone?

Came across this great site that sells switches for classic cars. Some amazing kill switches with built in indicator lights. I want to use them in a build but I'll need to figure out a way. They only do 12V...

12V would work fine if you used a relay to switch the mains power. I don't know if there'd be any logistical or safety issues but the concept seems sound.

Check the rating on the switch, most automotive switches are rated X amps @ 120-240 volts. The lighted ones have a separate ground wire to the light, just add the proper resistance to it. You can also buy the safety covers for standard toggle switches,(assorted colors).

If the switch can handle the load of the amp, power the light with 12VDC via a voltage doubler off the filament line. Those are definitely cool switches.

The switches are rated 12V 25A. I am ordering a couple and will see if the LED can be separately powered up. If not the relay solution sounds like the way to go. Thanks for all your input.

Searching ebay for "switch guard" will get you to a bunch of the covers.
The guards stay up in the on position making it a bit easier to accidentally
switch them off.

They do look cool though!
