Gibson GA-200 Rhythm King-ever heard one? Paging Kenny Mims

Post by chopstuck »

I have one of these rare... and really weird tweed beasts, from around 1959-60.

From the 6v6 as a voltage regulator to
dual tetrode driver tubes to
6BJ8 tubes as built in compression to
split chassis with umbilical cord and
my schematic being not quite correct

I'm not sure what it's supposed to sound like.

It came with some KT88s when I got it - one broken. I have 6550s in there now and it has very little gain and volume. It sounds like Polytone meets ss Vox. With those giant tubes and the size of these trannies this shoud be a beast. I believe it was rated a 60w clean. Mines not there yet. I'm working on biasing but the power stage is not conventional. It's fixed bias but with that 6v6 as regulator I'm a little stumped.

Has anyone ever heard one ?

Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

Kind of a strange way to draw that.
I wonder when the person that mechanically drew these schematics realized that people might actually want to read the values and voltages written on them?

Weird way to draw tubes.

Yes that is a strange one, if yo have a scope can you inject a sine wave and trace it through the stages?
