2N4416? Someone here must know what HAD was using. All I know is in the #124 pictures the FET looks to be a 2N-something. Vishay/Siliconix have current production 2N4416A in TO72 at about $2.50 ea.
Forget where that came from but that is what I thought is was.
However I always thought of NTE as being a super expensive replacement parts company anyway. I would cross reference whatever the number is back to a "real" part and go from there unless you
feel the need to use exactly what he did. Too expensive, not as good as other device....skip nte....my opinion anyway.
Yes, that is how I understand NTE.
They rebrand parts, more like a distributor of parts but generally high quality from what I've seen.
A local place carries a lot of NTE stuff, I didn't think most of it was very expensive, at least what I have purchased.
By chance I landed on the pics of #040 on Rob Livesey's site today, and I see that the FET in that amp is a three pin device in a plastic or epoxy case (not too clear, but TO-92 I guess). That wouldn't be the NTE452 or 2N4416, as they are both four pin in metal TO-72, so maybe it is 2N5486?
