Tenma soldering station trouble

Post by angelodp »

Hi, maybe others have had this issue and can offer a fix. I have the Tenma 21-7930 variable soldering station. It just stopped heating up. The lights only progress to the green light and first red light, but no heat on the iron. Can't quite figure how to open this unless the screws are under the rubber glued feet??

Any have this problem

My soldering iron stopped working of all the suddenly too. I opened it up (Yes the screws are under the rubber feet) but didn't see anything wrong with it.

I ended up just buying a cheapie for the meantime. :(

Take an ohmmeter and check the resistance of the two wires going to the iron.
Not sure what the resistance will read at but if there is an open circuit there that would be the reason it doesn't heat.

fixed

Old old post, but I did get this fixed. It was missing a small insulating washer which shorted the unit. I put in the piece and its been going ever since. In fact MCm sent me a new one at a very very reduced rate for my trouble.
