TGP hates Military Vets

Someone needs to let that boy step off a chopper into a warzone with an M-16 that has three round burst, and full auto. Please, Please, Please don't cover machine gun unless you have enough soul to play it...to truly be able to feel that song you have to know what sounds Jimi was mimicking. As an army veteran, I think that what JM did to that song is an insult to Jimi himself, and an insult to anyone who has been in active theatre i.e. real war. I prefer JM to play his own songs so you can't tell if they get trashed....case and point is leno...nuff said.

I recieve a ban and this note-
"You have received an infraction at The Gear Page.

Reason: Wishing violence against a TGP Member
-------
You do realize that Mayer is a TGP member and wishing anyone gets shot is at the very least very bad form."

I never said I thought he needed to be shot, but conclusion jumpers ban me before they comprehend the post. How can someone play the song with enough soul, that one would acquire in combat, if they are dead? I feel this ban is uber-offensive because I did have friends who lost their lives in theatre, and I feel that the mods over there believe that everyone who jumps off a chopper into the thick of it is a gonner. Those of you who have seen combat know the sounds, and I'm sure that y'all will agree that the song is played better by people who understand the sounds of combat. That being said I would like to ask AG members who are also members of TGP, and who may or may not be vets or active duty, to refrain from donating any money to TGP until my ban is lifted.
Thanks in advance for the support.

Good luck on that one.

Don't you know you have to belong to the clique to play there?

That place is more of a flavor of the month club anyway.

If you want a nice boutique amp, just wait a couple weeks after one of them buys it, it will be for sale in the Emporium for a lot less than they paid.

Anyway, if you are a vet, thank you for your service to this country. :D

They really like to hold on to their Bludos and Redplates :(

I finally got them to review my ban :)

Just for the record and to keep the facts straight, Jimi Hendrix never saw combat during his 1 year stint in the army. In fact, he never even left the US while serving.

He did however use a M16 during training, as well as practice chopper evacuations, and parachute jumps. He was stationed where there were tests done with the missles from the choppers so he did get to hear one of the two types of screamers.

Most likely the M14 as Jimi was discharged before Airborne troops were trained and issued M16's. Ironically; the Air Force was the first branch to approve the AR15, only several months prior to Jimi leaving the Army in mid 61'. In 62', the AR15 was designated the M16 and a few secretly made they way into southeast Asia via SF advisors and the rest is "black rifle" history.

 People donate to TGP?!??!
That would be pretty far down my list of possible charitable donations. The world's clean water crisis is almost immediately and easily solvable for a fraction of what america spends on unwanted Christmas gifts every year, and people think of donating to that.... Actually, I've rarely been there, so I won't comment.

Anyways, I don't know what to think of the John Mayer Video. I like it way better than most of his stuff. My biggest complaint is that he doesn't play it nearly loud enough. Maybe he has to avoid hurting the ears of all his soccer-mom fans, but I think the machine gun effect is rather impotent sounding through his setup. I don't know his intentions, but it may have been his slightly misguided attempt at honoring veterans, so I would feel bad criticizing him at it. I wouldn't be afraid to tell him to crank it (that's always an appropriate response in my books).

Anyways, about the clean water thing, here is the clip that showed me about it: (it's Christmassy)

There are those of us who served in the Vietnam era that would take exception to anyone jumping on a soapbox without having experienced that time.

If you don't like John Mayer, don't listen to him. That'll hurt 'em! :?

Hmmmm, if you served in 2000+, I'm betting you weren't even alive when I got out of the service.

Be well - everyone. No exceptions.

Oh so long ago, Vietnam (The 10,000 day War).

As I look in the mirror each morning I wonder who the F**k is this ughly guy staring back at me.

Current war started in 1990 and is open ended, now that is sad. Can we get any  from the current administration.

JM writes good pop song and plays and sings really well on them.
The guitar hero thing he does (i call it guitar porn) is embarrassing for guitar players and musicians as a whole.

I needed to listen to Mark Ribot to cleanse myself.

Great Musicians make musical statements about war. That clip was not one of them.
