OD & 6 pots?

Post by 10thTx »

I don't remember where I found this picture?

Anyone know about this amp & what pots were "left out" or substituted for a switch? I'm presuming a presence control, but also am wondering if the OD drive or level was substituted for a switch?

I'm curious if a switch or internal trim pot would be a "reasonable" substitute for a drive or level OD pot if a chassis has limited space for pots?

With respect, 10thtx

That's Normster's amp. The presence control is an 'Accent' switch and I believe the OD MV is right next to the relay, could be the OD content too.

I think he built a nice amp.

If you have such a kind of "fake" 70ies chassis like the one on the pictures I would recommend to do it the way Dumble did these mods. That would be:

- replacement of the two In/Out on the back by only one stereo in/out

- "Ratio" into the now free hole of the former loop placed next to the footswich XLR.

- option: replacement of the "Accent" switch by a small "Presence" pot.

If you want "Taper" and "Trigger" trim-pots, you can place them inside the amp as in #124.

Further option for a 50W: a "starve" switch on the back.

Cheers

Here's how I did mine. I added a master to the front and the OD/Cl and PAB switches to the back. It's wired to an 80's skyline circuit.
