PAB Boost

Post by mat »

Hello,

I'm just learning how to read schematics and I was trying to find how the singnal passes the treble, mid and bass pots on boost setting on the Hybrid Rev A schem. I can see how it passes the mid and bass pot but doesn't the signal go always through the treble pot ?

It does but it doesn't change the frequencies significantly. You are doing a couple things when you engage the boost; one is to take the bass cap completely out of the system and the other is to keep the treble cap from grounding in the tone stack. The mid control is intact but with the big (150k) slope resistor and small (.01) mid cap, a lot of the highs that would have been grounded are sent through the treble cap directly to the volume control. The treble pot becomes a variable resistor and works like the signal resistors before the drive and level pots. Since it is feeding into a 1 meg volume pot, it won't have a lot of effect.

Good luck,
