The new Doc Zee Monza is doing the YouTube rounds at the momment and it sounds pretty good. It is only 2 EL84s and 2 12AX7's so I am guessing it's a cascaded 12AX7 with a simple tone control into a typical Doc Zee PI and PA. Anyone know more about it?

I'm guessing like half a maz gt or a mini z with a maz out or a cathodyne pi...what's the wattage, could be single ended....sounds damn good....a maz gt pre into a ghia pi and pa?
anything worth doing, is worth doing right

It is basically a Mazerati GT with only 2 output tubes - gain stage - volume - gain stage - drive - long tail PI - 2 cathode biased EL84 - no NFB. The Drive control is a variable resistor to ground. It is a very similar arrangement to what I have implemented in my Top Hat Club Deluxe clone even though at that time I didn't know that the Monza has it, too.
I am looking to build one
.
Cheers Stephan

Is that a guess or information based on some other source?Darkbluemurder wrote:It is basically a Mazerati GT with only 2 output tubes - gain stage - volume - gain stage - drive - long tail PI - 2 cathode biased EL84 - no NFB. The Drive control is a variable resistor to ground.

It's based on a gut shot.Gee wrote:Is that a guess or information based on some other source?Darkbluemurder wrote:It is basically a Mazerati GT with only 2 output tubes - gain stage - volume - gain stage - drive - long tail PI - 2 cathode biased EL84 - no NFB.
