Here is my 5W Komet clone, it's an interesting process i've gone through whilst building this amplifier, I've decided to stick to the original schematic in the pre-amp to a tea only deviation is the 330k grid leak is actually a 220k and 100k in series because I couldn't find 330k as easily.
anyway.. here's some pics (and a little explaination of each one), I'll do some soundclips hopefully tomorrow!

Nice work James. Can't wait to hear the clips.

I'm kind of surprised you can identify that the metal film resistors affected the tone much.
Did you switch them to carbon or carbon film?
I know the Dumble style amp uses the high quality Vishay/Dale RCD65 metal films for plate resistors but I've never heard anybody complain about them.
Looks like a cool little amp.
Something I like to do on my cathode biased amps is to arrange the big cathode resistor with either a lot of room around it or situate it so it is above the bypass cap with air around it.
They can generate quite a bit of heat, which is not good for E caps.

Decided I wasn't too fond of the Komet Pre-amp in this particular power section it sounded rather harsh so I've re-worked the pre-amp to be a liverpool spec.
