Re: guitar cable
Hmmm....maybe the good old Belden 8410 that ws the standard back in the day still reigns king in performance? I looked at that Canare GS-6 mentioned about and it say 49pf/foot. I measured my 10+ foot belden and it read 400pf. And my meter usually reads higher than actual by about 15% in the pf range at least. The rubber jacket the lead is in is thicker than any i've seen with mogami or any of that. I used 8410 forever and about a year or 2 ago I found a stash of it cheap and bought a load of it.

What no Monster Cable for you?chief mushroom cloud wrote:I will start using ooga booga $$ cables the day some 19yr old college hottie comes up...
Those college chicks just can't stay away from me & my cable. (That'll be the day!)
But when I was in college it was a different story. "The bass player always gets the chicks." Must have been that sexy slim Jazz neck. That ended when one of 'em bought it from me. "FAT PAT" I WANT MY BASS BACK! Just for the record, Fat Pat was far from fat - light and lively - and an awesome artist. She wanted to be the next Suzy Quatro. Where is she now... and that bass? From SUNY Albany @ 1975-6 if anybody has a clue please let me know.

8410 was Clapton's choice back in the day, 1970's. I'm still using a piece as my oscilloscope probe cable. Surface is cracking a little after 35 years. Its only problem was it took a long time to loosen up after being on the roll. Kept rolling up by itself until "exercised" for a couple months.iknowjohnny wrote:Hmmm....maybe the good old Belden 8410 that ws the standard back in the day still reigns king in performance?

I've been using Gotham Audio here lately and have had good results. The GAC-1 is what I've been using. Comes in several colors for those who are so inclined. There is also a low cap version of the cable. The guy who distributes is Lewis Frisch. Shoot him an email and he'll send a paypal invoice. Not necessary to be a "dealer" or anything. http://www.gothamaudiousa.com/
It's all about the tone!
Re: guitar cable
I still have a Beldon cable I made back in the 70s. I needed a long cord, because their wasn't any wireless then. The music store at that time had a roll of this cable, and you could make your own. I made a 40f cord with switchcraft ends. Its been used and abused over many years, and still works great. I'll see if I can read the number on it. Looks like 8410.
I'm sure their are many others out there too.
