Re: Layout 5th Generation 183
Thank you once again Tony! Great work, you have really mastered that software!
Reminds me I have to put a label on the backplate of two of my amps, "DO NOT USE EL-34" (Pin 1 carries screen grid resistor to pin 4).

Re: Layout 5th Generation 183
Very nice! Big thanks to you and Shad.....
A few observations..... The resistor from the .005 OD2 cap to the drive pot seems to be a 180k in my pics. It is quite clear in fact. Can we check that value??
Also, are we sure that the OD Volume pot is also a 250K? In my notes from Shad, I have 100K written. Then again, I was not told the cap on the bass pot was a .0047uf
Thanks!!

Re: Layout 5th Generation 183
I have been lagging on checking out Tony's layout.
There was a lot of things to change with the first revision, so there are surely a few things to iron out...Tony sent me this revision to check before posting but I have tied up with some other business stuff.
As soon as I get time today I'll go over this new one and verify.
Any other questionable spots please do mention so I can double check.

Something I just noticed on a picture of this amp, HAD mounted the preamp sockets with the gap towards the board.
In other words, pins 4 & 5 are towards the rear of the chassis, unlike #124.

Yes, because pins 6-7-8 are the first triode, 1-2-3 are the second triode. He positioned the tube this way to correctly use these triodes.Structo wrote:Something I just noticed on a picture of this amp, HAD mounted the preamp sockets with the gap towards the board.

Tom Bob
Guy's if I really thought that would effect the tone in any way shape or form I would be all over it....Personally I think cap orientation is more important. Thanks for the shout out though..

Re: Layout 5th Generation 183
Has anyone found a source for 330uf axial caps? I'm not aware of any current manufactures, but haven't researched it much. One option is using a "Snap In" style cap and extend the leads. They're readily available and cheap . Mouser carries Panasonic, Nichicon, Cornell Dubilier, etc. and most are around $6.00 each. They should work with most Precision Power Supply boards as long as the height/length isn't much over 30MM. The attached .jpg is to scale. Any thoughts to if this is a viable option?
