Schwang!
I have wanted to try one for the longest time.

Some of those Hamers are outstanding.
Is yours solid or semi?
You have to be knowledgeable to know which are which on the good ones.
Sounds great!
Some guys are really into Hamers.

Hamers are great guitars.
Re: BM clip with my newest axe
Mines solid, but I would love to try some their semi-solids, like the artist.
Re: BM clip with my newest axe
a bit "mid heavy" for my taste, but great texture on the mids and nice grainy gain.
A solid rock tone.
good axe too, hamer are very good guitars!

Sounds good but isn't gain and level at 10 way too much? The BM is that designed for more mid range in the first place? This is not the BM HRM right?

Re: BM clip with my newest axe
U may be thinking in terms of 1 - 10 but I am using "clock" comparisons so drive and level would be at 10 oclockM Fowler wrote:Tonegeek

Not sure what the thinking is behind the BM other than the tone stack and PI is like a Marshall. The BM is a HRM variant (both have the OD tone stack). My amp started out as a HRM and I changed it to the BM circuit which I prefer for this amp.
Re: BM clip with my newest axe
Yes your correct I was thinking it was maxed out at 10 not 10 o'clock.
Re: BM clip with my newest axe
I go back and forth on the upper mids if that's what you are referring to. When I first start out playing (alone) for the day I usually don't use the mid boost, but after my ears compress, then I kick the mid boost on. If I am at band practice, then I end up with mid boost and sometimes even the bright switch to help cut through the mix. My mid boost and especially bright circuits are both tamed versions of the Dumble values.massygt6 wrote:a bit "mid heavy" for my taste, but great texture on the mids and nice grainy gain.

Re: BM clip with my newest axe
I believe even though the BM is more marshall based it actually has less mids than #124 type builds. The BM tonestack has less mids and the PI less headroomM Fowler wrote:Tonegeek

It's true i've lost my marbles and i cant remember where i put them
Re: BM clip with my newest axe
Yep, PI breaks up sooner. Not sure the mids are less, just in a different range. The upper mids to me are smoother with the BM stack than what it was with the Skyliner stack. But, you have to factor in that my amp has a Marshall OT driving EL-34s. Not sure how it would sound with 6L6's and the matching OT as I havent heard one like that other than recordings. I built a #124 and the Skyliner stack sounded great, much better than it sounded when it was in my HRM. The mid content was more low mids giving it that oboe tone and the high mids were just right with no spikes.JD0x0 wrote:I believe even though the BM is more marshall based it actually has less mids than #124 type builds. My clips don't do this amp justice. I can't seem to capture the full bass content that I hear live. (might explain some of the mid heavy comment) I am probably using the wrong mic, probably not placing it well either, and through freebie software. Since the cab is a 2x12 (G12-65's) I wonder if I am getting some phase cancellation by where the mic is placed. I could use some pointers on that. I would like everyone to hear what I hear.
