Any comments on the Brown Drops yet?

Darin, I haven't done any A/B testing. Now the last build used NOS CDE brown drops, this build has all Mallory PVC brown drops. Without a dedicated controlled test mule it's hard to be objective on just a capacitor when each build has a different circuit, voltages, tonestacks..etc.

In the perfect world, I would like to take chassis and do that with other ears present.

Well, I need to finish up that high plate, skyliner, high voltage build that I started on last Dec. I'm basically redoing the first amp I built in a CE chassis. The last work I did on it was the main board back in Jan. I put it off because I went about obtaining all the correct taper pots and once I found those, I continued to slack off. But you know what, I sat it in the cradle this morning. So if it rains, I will work on that this weekend. I might even put up some pics in a few.

Hmmm, I'm leaning towards a blonde amp. If things actually come together maybe a SSS, but it's not really on my radar.

Loaded it wth TS RI 6V6's, JJ83's in V1& V2 and a balanced LPS in V3.

Pri: 124.8V , highest I've recorded since I've been here.

Heater: 6.22V @V1

Bias string: 750>10K>16K

B+ string: 600>16K>1.6K

V1: 173/178
V2: 179/183
V3: 274/280

Looks like I need to drop that 600 to increase everything about 8-10V and then maybe increase the 1.6K a bit.

Screens: 400

Bias: 21-22 range

Jim, 47K/390pf and V2 has 216pF snubbers. Trimmers are 25K, 500K, 250K.

SAWEET!! I`m really diggin the 330pf, i went std 470K/500p into a 120K tho....fatter than a lorey hedge! It freaks out on the ej fuzz, i have ta HANG ON for dear life when i hit that button! lolol!!

May i ask What did ya build on that alum 100 watt metro chassis i sold ya? Wouldn`t mind getting another one, have a 4X6V6 river city jcm 800 clone here for jack change, that`s really nice! The EJ fuzz into the low gain channel w/boost off is a serious tone!

Thanks Jim, the OD ent is 478K/470pf>192K>25K trimmer. I wanted to try something low on the snubbers first.

Nothing with it, other than get a faceplate for it.

Anyone have the PPS board diagram that you used Tonemerc, I got mine from jborders but for some reason it is not the same as the boards currently being used and I want to make sure I wire this up correctly.

The six holes on the bottom L to R: 3 on left are for B+1, 4th hole is ground for B+2, last 2 is B+2 positive. Correct:?:

Mark, the board pictured above is not one of Jason's PPS boards. Shortly after the very first run of CE chassis a member here(I forget who now) had some boards made for his personal use. In order to get a better deal he ordered more than he needed, sold off the extras and I purchased a couple of those.

Those boards were setup so that the standby was directly after rectifier, hence they have only six terminations. A traditional board that has the standby after the first capacitor bank node will have 8 terminals and this is what you will normally see. AFAIK, the AGB "clone" boards that Jason has offered to the public all have had 8 terminations, I 've used those as well.

However, a couple of years ago Jason did have some PPS boards made for his personal use which included a 4th power node. Those boards were very unlike(integral fred diodes, loop/reverb node, multiple grounding options)the traditional PPS board that he offers in his clone set. That board does have 6 terminations at the bottom. Do you by chance have one of those boards? I do have the diagram for that one, see attachment.

FWIW, what you don't see above or in the two builds that I've used these in is a 3 eyelet daughter board mounted under the main pwr board that allows me to config the power supply with the same functionality as the 8 termination board.

I wanted it to be transparent, I guess it works

Hmmm, I know the one's I have didn't come from Jason. All the boards I've gotten from Jason had either AGB Designs or AGB Amplifiers silkscreened on them. Nevertheless, here's the scheme.

1-3) from standby, to choke, OT
4) screen ground
5-6) from choke, screen supply

Here is a picture of the board from the layout that you posted.
