Post by dcribbs1412 »

Got a chassis from a member here(its the Natchis 4 pre hole with D logo)
had to drill a few holes.
Using MC Twin iron.
Trying the internal loop.

Nice!
I always wondered about those chassis.
So they are anodized, then silk screened?

How is the gauge of the aluminum?

Man these amps are labor intensive!

Wires wires wires!

Hi Tom
Got this from a guy that stalled on a build so it had all the tube sockets, pots and a few caps...
Not sure about anodized...screen seems to be on top though.
Been wondering about removing the D logo...not sure(seems kinda cheesy)
Chassis thickness is less than the CE but I think its OK for the weight of the iron.
And what do you mean " labor intensive"...I thought I was done!...crap

There have been some members here that used those chassis and kept the Dumble logo on.

You could just put a decal over it rather then try remove it.

The head cab mounting was what I was wondering how to do on this chassis.

Somewhere there is a thread about mounting these. I think typically members have basically built a shelf in their cab and "locked" the chassis in place on the shelf rather than top mount with screws. I think that the issue is that the top lip isn't large enough to hold PEM nuts or any other solution.

Link below has information on how Talbany mounted the chassis to the cab.

Didn't HAD mount these style chassis from the sides instead of the top?

Hi Darin,

Looks like your chassis has holes drilled on the lip.

I used some aircraft nut plates...

Fairly simple to install.
Seem to fit OK I had to move them over...too close to front edge of cab
I think I got the idea from someone here.

Just finished recapping a '79 or '80 Fender Twin Reverb and it's held to place just as you did Darin, aircraft nut plate, and this is a heavy mother, the 135 watt version with a huge PT (for a twin, that is).

Cheers!

That is a bummer!.

Darin I read that you used MC Twin trannies.

strato17 if you can handle the cost perhaps getting the MC Twin Reverb PT/OT/choke would be better then cutting up the chassis.

I recently built a headcab for one of these chassis. the builder had put in long chassis mount screws that went completely through the chassis in 5 points and bolted into nuts below the chassis. i'll see if i can find some pictures!!

I did use the MC iron...I had to drill holes for OT and just made the PT mounting holes a little bigger...did not have to cut the PT hole.(seems strange if you have to with a Twin PT)
This chassis takes a little more work to use than the CE chassis, hope its worth it in the end.
