Easy enough to try without yours.

The kind I like are transformer based, and give balanced power.

Huh, I never heard, or thought, about power conditioners hurting dynamics...since I switched to just the guitar/cable/amp rig, I have had one of those Furman 1215 Voltage Regulator/Power Conditioners on my "to get" lists for a while. Most of the clubs in my area have horribly variable & noisy power...and it is very noticeable....more research is in order.

Cantplay, which brands/models do you like?

I have the predecessor model Furman regulator to the 1215. Expensive and worth every penny! Highly recommended.

You can get a Tripp Lite regulated supply for much less than the Furman, but it doesn't look as cool.

Their 400 is essentially a 30lb choke across the power line. I guess that makes it a crossover, -6dB.

As to the Tripp lite stuff, I would warn that it is intended for industrial use, not audio. Yes, it will cover you in the event of brownouts, but the quality of resultant AC also delivers some noise artifacts.

In a club, no problem who cares. In the studio, not good for the quiet stuff.

Yeah, years ago I fell for a "whole house line conditioner).

I think it was just a couple huge caps in the box that you connect to your breaker box.
Their claim that it would reduce your energy consumption........

All I know is it made a nasty buzzing sound in the garage.

I have a hard time believing that article. The whole thing about wood fiber from short trees is hogwash.

There's a tone quest interview with Steve Kimock where he talks about possible celestion blue prototypes that boogie had that didn't sound the same as when the blues came out and improved a lot when he had them re-coned, so much so that he bought brand new ones and had them re-coned. I don't think KF was the only one that got sent those prototypes.

That's what I thought when I read that. After all, are the individual fibers fifty feet long?

A lot of the stuff KF says seems to be some sort of placebo effect, and plenty of people seem to believe it, and swear by it. Like differences in the sound of different types of wire, for example.

But KF is almost a religious figure among many amp fans, so I generally keep quiet.
