BM/HRM soundcheck
Hi everyone,
It´s been a while since I posted my last topic. Thats mainly because I´ve build a new amp...
Could you guys be so kind and listen to the clip? I´ll post pics later...
Please don´t listen to my playing, my mind wasn´t thinking musically, it was just for the test.
Many, many thanks in advance....

BTW,
D-lator is on the way...
Recording is made with a cheap ass mic and I used Audacity and added a little delay later.

Re: BM/HRM soundcheck
This is the layout I used for my build...with some mods...
https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=6315
- Hammond Twin replacement PT and OT
- No bright cap on the OD master
- 100k slope resistor. The amp was very boomy with the 47k..
- 15n mid cap on the HRM board...
- Guitar used is an old japanese Westone semi,..
http://www.buddyx.nl/gearpics/guit01.jpg
- speaker cab is 2x12 loaded with Emi Tonespotters...

Hi Lars,
That's a real nice sound!
Did you try different values on the slope other than 47k and 100k?
groeten uit Dordt, kom jij uit tukkerland?

I hear some noise, likely to be computer noise maybe. But, in your room, is the amp quiet? How do you like those Hammond transformers? I've heared mixed opinions on them, and would like to hear from someone who's actually built an amp with them.
Please let me know as I was contemplating buying a pair of hammond transf. Their price is very attractive.
Thanks
F

Re: BM/HRM soundcheck
The problem is that in our home we have light dimmers in every room,...thats what you´re hearing....

sounds very good! congrats.

Yes those dimmers make a lot of racket.larsmuller wrote:The problem is that in our home we have light dimmers in every room,...thats what you´re hearing....
I was battling some buzzing in my amp but it only happened at night.
I figured some dirty industrial power was making it's way into my house.
Nope!
I have two different security lights outside my house, the one in front stays dim unless something trips the motion sensor then it goes bright.
It was that thing that was making the noise.
If I unplug it, no noise at all.

I can't comment too much on the tone, all I have is my laptop but I'll listen when I get home in a few days.
You might revisit that bright cap on the master after you finish the D-ulator. I think you might want to tweak the amp for more brightness than you need and let the cables to the d-ulator kill some of the highs. Tends to work for me.

Re: BM/HRM soundcheck
Did you exclude the .02uF cap after the 180k plate resistor on V2(a).
I know that isn't supposed to be there and could be why it was so boomy w/ the 47k slope.
Just checking.

Re: BM/HRM soundcheck
Sounds Dumbly
I hear a little leading edge "ping" what values are you using in the PI between the bias supply and the output tube grid resistors?
