A very generous friend loaned his PRS KL 380 to me. Typical PRS quality and personality, except for the 3 soapbar pups on it. I mostly play Strats but have gotten to try about 6-8 HB equipped guitars through my amp. I always go back to the Strats. This PRS KL satisfies my Strat needs, but also does the HB fat, sustainy thing but with single coil pups. I find it to be one of the most versatile guitars I have ever played and it has no coil taps, no active stuff, or HB pups. I had a McCarty II over here last week and this guitar is more versatile IMO. You can't tell from this clip but it does the Strat thing with the volume down and the HB thing with it cranked. I was in the playing loud mood when I did this clip!
THis clip is with the bridge pup, full guitar volume. The amp is a 50 watt EL 34 HRM in OD with PAB and mid boost on. I used no effects. SM58 mic placed 2" off the grill pointing at where the dust cover meets the cone. No post production. Enjoy:

What cab/speaker are you working with here?

its an open back compact pine cab made by Ear Candy with 2 - 12" Hellatone 30 speakers (treated Celestion G12H30).benoit wrote:What cab/speaker are you working with here?
