PRS amps anyone, Your thoughts
I just saw a video clip of Derek Trucks talking about the PRS amp he is using now. It sure sounded sweet to me, but that was only thru my laptop speakers. Doe anyone out there have any experience with these amplifiers? What do you think about them and maybe compare them to some of the other custom amps and other Boutique amps. Thanks

Is it the Doug Sewell designed amp ? Sewell are pretty well regarded around here. I know the Wampus cat is based on a Tweed Pro 5e5 circuit. They are a bitch to get inside of though.
Heres the link to the clip

Since one of the amps is called 'Original Sewell' you might be right. I'll have to look into Doug Sewell's amps as well.

They are Sewell designs. PRS bought Sewell not long ago.

I've been quite interested in these as well. I wonder which one trucks is using? You can't tell from the video. He has been using a black face super for some time now so I would guess the dallas with a 4x12

ya, I'm going to have to pick up his new disc. Something tells me all that good tone comes from his damn fingers.

You mean..... I won't sound like Derek if I get one of these ampsfunkmeblue wrote: ... all that good tone comes from his damn fingers.
Surely, I would
I didn't think I liked paisley, but that tolex looked good.

Derek Trucks can make a ***** sound good (insert you least favorite POS). I have sen him live and his tone with the two superreverbs will make you cry. I believe he has a Ts9 on all the time too. It's in his fingers and his head. Not to downgrade the PRS amp in anyway. Maybe with the PRS he does not need a Ts9.

True dat billyz. Derek has some serious chops and goes about it in a very melodic fashion.
Doug's amps are very well built and sound great, but I am not a fan of that paisley covering. Looks like hotel furniture up close.

Check this demo of the McCarty II out. I wrote PRS and they said this demo was done using the "Dallas". I don't hear a bad tone in this whole demo.
