I'm looking at a build list, and am wondering about the tonal and/or amp responsiveness effect of the large Mallory caps: 20 and 40 uf. Haven't done a lot of hunting, but they seem to be running $15+ for the first (pn TC75) and $20 for the second (pn TC78). That puts a full set in the $110 range. Sprague atoms are half to a third the cost.
Anyone think the Mallory's are a critical component?

Great! They're 6 and 11.70, big diff! The listing of Cornell-Dubilier as the manufacturer threw me for a loop. Has CD always made Mallory's?
