My Liverpool PS Board-Your thoughts

Post by gahult »

I've seen a couple of different boards for various builds and thought I would draw one up. This would make for shorter leads to the chassis components and no wires under the board. Just a lot of time on my hands :D
Thought I would put it out here and get some input.
Thanks
Gary

You would want to tie the other bias resistor / cap (C15/R23) to that ground lead, n'est ce pas?

Otherwise, it's fine- but why not just use what is a proven design???

We're DIYers-- why not experiment? I know we all like trainwrecks, but if Ken hadn't experimented, they wouldn't exist.

Thanks Ron I had that drawn in, but I hadn't gone over the line to make it darker. Just had some time and thought with a little different placement I could get the wires off the bottom of the board and shorten up the ones that go off the board to make it a little lead dress.

I saw your rocket PS boards and got so inspired (motivated, etc) that I just had to see what it would look like.

Just a thought, but if it looks like it will work I may try it.

Thanks
Gary

Gary- no sweat, I agree that experimenting is what this is all about.

The Rocket boards were done by RJ, not me... I am in fact going to build mine totally traditionally with no PS board like Allyn did.

opp's, my bad I didn't look at the name on the post. It was in your rocket doc. thread. Yes for the Rocket, how you say "board, I no need no stinkin board" :D
I've been doing electronics since the early 60's (oh I stuck two bare wire in a wall outlet at age 5/6, ain't been right since) when I built my first project no book just the schematic, a super regen rcv'r wound my own coils, had the furnace man bend a chassis. Used a selenium rectifier in the PS back then. Pulled in Europe and other on a good night.
I've been into ham radio since about 1965 or so. Built a couple of Kw linear amp you could heat a room with and lots of smaller ham shack stuff.

So, any way I'll be in and out. CUL
Thanks

Liverpool PS

Gary,

If you look at the pictures of my Liverpool you'll notice I built my PS board almost exactly like you're suggesting; however, you'll notice that I had to cut out a notch in the top right corner.
It made it A LOT easier to work on the switches in that area.

And as you can hear I believe the amp captures that famous TW tone.

Good Luck,

Steve

Steve,
Great minds think alike. :D
I will likely look at yours closer and mod mine to your build.
Thanks
