What are your favorite ways to adjust volume of the guitar?
(besides using the knob)
On my LP, I like to set the neck pickup volume low, and the bridge volume pretty high. This way I get a clean/distortion/lead with a flick of the selector switch. Problem is you can't do this on a strat.
I'm also looking into a volume pedal.
Am I missing any "tricks"?

Re: Volume techniques
With a Strat, I actually have to dial in the pickups a bit with pickup height. Even if it's a "Calibrated" set, I find the mid and especially the neck to overpower the bridge. So I use pickup height and string height and string gauge to dial in both volume and tone.
The flipside is that since I am aware of volume differences, I can also dial in a Strat for a slight boost knowing the pickups output and tonal capabilities.
Also, you can also wire a Vol to Mid/Neck and Vol to Bridge and have a master tone knob (or I typically just take the tone knob out of circuit), that way you can sorta to the LP thing.
Or you can do like Bucket Head and have a "Kill Switch".
This is a Pre-Coffee post, so hopefully everything made sense.

Re: Volume techniques
With my express clone
On my Les Paul I have it wired out of phase IE Peter Green and I have some WCR paf clones.
I can get clean from both pickups, but I usually run the volumes at 3-5 and the tones at 7. While the volumes are equal it gets a thiner single coil sound with a clean sheen. I can roll the neck up to get a little more bass and grit, or roll up the bridge and get some really good cut. This works really well for blues gigs and rock, some country works (since I have a fast/gradual switch its more flexible)
If I switch to the neck and run the tone at 10 and volume at 4 I can get some jazzier blues tones.
I'll only touch the bridge by itself if I'm soloing or if I need it for a cutting riff (think Black Crowes, Van Halen, AC/DC)
