Hi,
I hear a lot of clips of people playing lead with these amps but i do not hear many chords. How do the trainwreck express amps sound when playing chords.

Chords sound devine whether clean or overdriven, everything about its tone is BIG, in your face but very natural as opposed to the flat box in the coner response i hear from most transistor amps. It makes my DSL sound flat.
I think you may be better off letting us know in what setting you want to use the amp or mention a few amps you know and like and hopefully someone here will be able to give you a comparison.
Wrecks seem to be as much about the feel of the amp as the tone. I know I was concerned it may be a one trick pony but in fact I am finding that it is more versatile with just guitar, volume knobs and the touch in your fingers than my DSL is with 2 1/2 channels and a boost pedal.
you just really got to have a band to play loud with or very understanding neighbours as even an attenuator just gets it down to manageable gig levels, but that is diverting from your initial question.
Have another look and listen to Glens videos, there really should be enough chord work to give you a fair estimation

Wally, have you checked out Glen's TW videos on you tube? He has an original ('89 Express I believe) that he records with. He has a CD for sale in the Classifieds section as well. Check out You Tube to get a better idea of what the TW is capable of.
That said, my own experience with my half-assed 'wreck has been that it's *very* rich harmonically, and really allows the tone of the guitar to shine through. And I'm not just talking heavy distortion, I'm talking cleans that are very complex, as well as distortion that still shows the guitars true tone through.

A useful note is that there are few here who have heard let alone played a real Trainwreck live, so most of the rest of us are just giving opinions on their own trainwreck inspired version.
BW (before wreck) I normally had my guitar tone and vol maxed on both pups most of the time, now the neutral setting seems to be in and around 5 on both vol and tone, so the tonal combinations are plentiful, .... you just have to learn to play guitar again
, those knobs and pup switch become as much a part of the instrument as the strings and it will undoubtedly take time to get the fingers doing what the feet used to do. If you are a pedal junkie then this may not be your amp, unless you are ready to throw em all out
Ron is right, the amp really holds the charachter of your guitar on all settings, even when the dirt kicks in (which is where many amps, IMO make guitars sound similar) you can still hear all the nuances of the instrument with this amp.
There is also a lot less of a drop in sound level when rolling back guitar vol to go clean than you would think, and in any case the wreck will cut through the mix, i will know for sure after wednesday nights practice.... can't wait to gig mine
