Has anyone built a Dlator with a parallel loop yet. Is there a schematic for that.

There are a few schematics here at the garage. I built one as a stand-alone unit a few months ago. Here's one version I think I got here although I changed the 1m grid resistor with a panel pot.
I used a flat-pack PT. They are cheap but well-made trannies designed to knock down 120VAC (or 220) down to something a lot less. You just run them backwards and can get a little better than 300 VDC with a bridge rectifier. Plenty of juice to run a couple preamp tubes. Mine measures about 2" square by not quite 3/4" high. You need a second bridge to convert the 12 VAC input to 12 VDC and you run the heaters on that. Full info at Hoffmanamps.com
