Princeton noise

Post by rutledj »

I have a princeton build based on the Hoffman circuit. Amp sounds good but there is a lot of white noise (his) in the amp. No hum. What normally contributes to this type of noise?

Typically hiss can be caused by a noisy component, a tube, resistor, or capacitor, but it can also be a high frequency oscillation. The first thing I would try is replacing preamp tubes, especially in the V1 position.
