Tonex useful captures
To get started
Marshall 1987x DI
From user Le. Drop depth to around 2, slightly decrease gain, moderate treble to match your cabinet, +1 on presence.
This plays perfectly for me for Malmsteen Alcatrazz with PAFs, from dry to a touch of plate 2.5sec 70ms predelay, -1 color. Strat likes 5 gain.

What is your signal chain after the ToneX?

Re: Tonex useful captures
Hopefully these are useful. I have been digging this little box - mostly amp only captures to use your own IRs.

Re: Tonex useful captures
Yes, with 1400 caputers I only have 30 amp only and maybe I find half of them useful.
To use the other I have a RANE PE-17 to force the curve I want on the removed cab sounda. Some of those are very good, but not like the capture would be direct. Also the Metal Gems pack was inexpensive but not worth it because of how dark every sound is. Whomever did the package is using a terrible playback rig.
If you use a model of an amp that doesn't have resonance, just turn it off or set no higher than 2 or it's just blown out at the bottom end

Re: Tonex useful captures
One of my favorite amps to play loud. Now I can play the capture at whisper or in headphones.
Just added my JTM45 and a Kingsley EF86 preamp. This tech is getting nuts....

Re: Tonex useful captures
The Dust Redplates are some of my favorite amps. Do you might possiblest have a cap of that amp that is gainy enough to sing?
Your captures are easily in the top couple percentile of quality. The Bassman right side is surreal! The normal is just perfect!
It is amazing tech. I am buying a many knob midi control for access to all settings without touching the unit. Waiting for update documents to see how many controls are needed. I have the cheapo FC100 something with two pedals. $89 at the end of a Sweetwatwr deal. Rocks just fine.

Re: Tonex useful captures
The captures are top notch, again!!
Try something though. Drive an amp 50% more to capture and turn tge gain control from default 5 to about 2-3 to play. Now you have the cleaner tone with the character of the amp roasting. It is a real thing. It is crazy.

As you can tell from these captures, I am not a high gain guy. I made these captures of my amps for me and decided to post them. All of these amps will get way gainier. I goose them with a Lightspeed and Direct Drive when i want more on the board. I will do some captures of these amps in higher gain territory and post them early next week. I have houseguests this weekend to watch the Titans flounder again...

No complaints! What you posted is amazing, I spent a year whining about not buying the Astro Dust at the Nashville amp show 11 years ago and just love the harmonics they make. Don't work for me, just if you ever get around to it..
You could sell your captures. Unsure what your setup is, but it's the best. Period.

Ok, enough magic. Dood, what are you using to do captures? I cycled through several interfaces and direct schemes today but even the things that sound identical do not have the bouncy rebound of anything you have published.
I even called a friend my Benchmark set of ad/da is on loan to and left a message that I might need those back heh

I can wait to try these out... Thanks stelligan!!
xtian, get you some!!
Btw, if anyone has any info to share on any of those RedPlates, please don't hesitate to pm me here. I'd love to take a peek at what's going on under the hood.

Hard to see. Both sides of the board and every inch is populated. LCR and smoother than glass.

Re: Tonex useful captures
There is a variety of gear over the course of these captures. The constants are a Radial PRO RMP reamp box(the old cheap one) into amp in and a Fractal Audio X-Load resistive load box on "UK" voicing at output. I have made certain that the reamp box feeds the input like a Telecaster wide open. I used 2 different interfaces as converters. I have been using a MOTU 424 PCI system with Black Lion modded 1224 and 1296 converter boxes for far too long. Some captures are with a new MOTU M4 (ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC). I believe the only capture influenced by my preamps was the Foxy 18 amp+cab capture. That used a Chandler Germanium pre & SM57 and Meris 440 with CAD Trion ribbon. Cab was a Hermida ported 1 x 12 with an ancient G12-65. You owe it to yourself to play a Telecaster through that......Reeltarded wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 10:21 pm Ok, enough magic. I have had the amps dialed in for quite a while and believe i know where they sound best to me - that may be a factor. Posted 3 more takes on the Magic Dust - 1 bright clean and 2 drive captures with way more gain. You may need to use a noise gate on the capture with drives 1 & 2 cascaded - especially if you have single coils. Don't know how long I will keep the two Redplates up there so grab them while you can. The amps I have built will probably stay up. Glad y'all are digging the captures. To be honest, the interest on the forum was the only reason I put them up to share. If they end up being gone in the future - I will just email links to files for you all if you PM me.
P.S. It is probably dog hair conductance that contibutes much to the mojo of these captures. Crikey - I have to take a feather duster to my console.........
