Anyone ever try a jtm45 replica OT in an express?

Anyone ever try a jtm45 clone output transformer in an express build, something like a marstran, mercury magnetics or heyboer radiospares clone?

Don't know if this help.
I've done two komet clones one with a mercury set, the other one with shinrock transformers, both for jtm45.
In particular, the mercury set is the G3 one with 400 0 400 secondary unloaded
I can say that both are excellent sounding, but very different each other.
Sparkle sound for the shinrock set with the highest dynamic ever seen on a guitar amp, while more brownish for the mercury set.
If you are interested in Shinrock Irons ( excellent anyway , coming from Germany) , be aware that Ingo , although with a very big personal issue (check his website) , is at least 5 months that he's got my money for another iron set, and still has not delivered anything, nor he's answering to emails. I know at least of other 2 guys who are in the same situation as me.
So don't even think to order something to him. You'll not get it.

Ciao

from the shinrock webpage:

Sorry for very bad news.

My daughter Muriel, 12 years old, has a tribe brain tumour and is lying in hospital. I have all orders and will ship them out as soon as possible. I will take no new orders, I will answer e-mails , but I can´t promiss in 48 hours.

With best regards

As I wrote, being a father myself, I believe Ingo is passing through the toughest time in the life of a man.
BTW This is not justifying that he 's got the cash promptly ( not just from myself. check the sloclone forum) and is not answering to any email (there comprised the refund requests if he's not able to complete the sales) since at least 3 months.

Roe 6K6 would obviously have to work since a lot of express trannies use 6K6 primaries, my question was leaning more towards the results and not particularly if it would work, I'm sure it works, I was just curious if any one had tried it...

I have heard of other people having to go through long delivery times with shinrock but in the ended things worked out... I know it's a bad situation but then again the man is going through a bad time, I hope everything settles both for him and his family, as well as for his customers...

thanks

I am truly sorry to say this but the man is a scam artist !!

in one mail a couple of years back he told me he was diagnosed with cancer and was the reason for not shipping out transformers !! hmm..
its hurts to see that he is using his daughter as cover up !!
how low can you go ?

now he also has a "company" in Germany that also takes orders on Speaker cabinets Dumble cabs and other,

he ships out some goods and some just dont get their goods at all.

the funny thing is that his new email address to this cabinet company is the same as he had awhile on his Shinrock transformer busines !!!

beware !!

Yes I tried it, I used a RS replica in TW build, I used it with el34
its sounded very cool,
a bit rounder more compressed than Heyboer 6k6
but the Sec output switching was a bummer though,, not regular separate 4.8. 16 taps on those

regarding the transformer, it's good to ear that someone actually tried this... the secondary switching doesn't bother me at all, as I will be using pretty much the same cabinet always, so I have no need to impedance versatility!

Thanks for the reply
