I posted this query on the Boogie Board Forum.
I thought that the Mesa Boogie Forum would be the first place to ask, but I have had no response.
I have also posted this on the Music Electronics Forum.
I hope someone here can offer some info.
I have a Mesa Boogie 50 Caliber+ (2x6L6) in my workshop for repairs and it is in very poor condition.
The PCB is roasted and conductive in one section and the whole internals are in poor condition generally, with some dodgy mods added in.
The amp worked (but not as it should) and the chassis, cab, speaker and transformers are all OK.
It is not really worth the cost, or the risk of future failures, to try and repair the PCB, as it is.
The only good way to get this amp to work well and sound good is to do a complete rebuild (new build), by replacing the ruined PCB with either, a good quality PCB (not genuine Boogie), or a turret or eyelet board.
It need not be a 50 Caliber+ replica, but the owner wants it to be a Boogie sounding amp; not something else in the Boogie box.
Maybe a board for a MkIIB or IIC+, as long as it will fit in the 50 Caliber chassis.
I haven't been able to find any Mesa style circuit boards for sale and I am hoping you blokes will be able to give me leads/links to available circuit boards.
I can make a turret or eyelet board to suit, but I would rather not, if someone has already made something suitable
Thanks for any help.
Cheers, Noel

Re: MESA BOOGIE 50 Caliber+ (2x6L6) - Circuit Board Wanted
I think you haven’t gotten many responses because maybe this type of thing does not exist but is a great idea. I’d be interested if you find anything but I’ve never heard of anything like what you are looking for. Many Boogies die because of the circuit boards traces degrading. I’ve seen quite a few here like that in tropical Hawaii and a lot more are getting this way after 30+ years.
I would advise against reusing the chassis and any parts except the transformers and maybe the cab if you can get a new chassis that fits nicely. I’ve always regretted trying to reuse a chassis instead of just getting a new one and making it something entirely new. I think it is less work and more fundamentally sound in the end. Too many variables to deal with otherwise and you usually end up with extra holes and such......unless one were to design a new PCB that would be a drop in replacement which of course is what you are really looking for!

Yes Bryan, a new pcb or turret or eyelet board is what I would like to get, but it isn't looking likely.
I will be reusing the hardware and the transformers, because they are all OK and the control panel and layout will be similar to the original, so a new chassis is not needed.
The aim is to build a new amp (probably with an eyelet board that I will have to make) that works and sounds like a Boogie.
Cheers, Noel

Hello -
Mesa borrows substantially from Fender '60s era. Adapting creatively using either purchased board or template, and modifying to meet your needs. An AB763 layout would be the place to start. Or exploit Dumble knowledge depth at TAG and convert it into an ODSR, perhaps voicing with bit of a Boogie tone response.
Best .. Ian

Ian,
Good suggestion about the AB763; that could be a good start.
I have considered getting a Dumble board and adjusting to suit. It might be a good alternative.

Have you tried calling Mesa and asking if they can supply replacement boards for these? (707) 778-6565 Mon - Thurs, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. California time.

I would advise this too. I had a DC5 in for service a whole bunch of years ago. I needed a part. I can’t remember now what it was, but I do recall they sold me the part I needed and at a fair price. There whole experience with their customer service people was top notch.
