There was a tussle a couple weeks ago. Miles may be sitting it out for a while. I really hope he will not be permanently deprived of vitamin B. (aka Bacon.) I do enjoy his posts.Structo wrote:Speaking of Miles, is he AWOL?

That is hilarious.
I am here, just not so much.
Here's another one of my amps I am about to fuck someone else out of, probably.

Miles, what's wrong, that amp's missing a speaker.Reeltarded wrote:That is hilarious.

HA! I have its mate, brown Concert, same crazy mixed up control set. Eventually someone will come up with the $$$$ and beat the rest of the world to it. Then the crying will start. One generic kleenex to each who arrived late/underfunded.
Good to see you still here, I'll salute you with tomorrow morning's ration of bacon!

Re: Here's a new avatar for Reeltarded
I put it off for years since I last ran it. I opened it up to realize it might be the most virginal amp I have ever owned, except that someone stole my speakers.
I spent the last nine days prepping stuff to sell. It joins the pile if the other stuff doesn't move pretty quick I am going to have a broken heart.

Reel:
Funny thing about that amp....back about a hundred years ago when i was 22
I worked with this lady who was a widower, she said "hey Joe, I heard you play guitar, I have this old amp in my garage that was my husbands. I want the thing out as its just collecting dust, come get it and give me 20 bucks"
I went there and that bandmaster like the one you have was sitting under a cover, I didnt know much about amps back then ( I still dont ) , but I said to her, "this thing looks like its worth way more than 20 bucks, you should put it in the paper"
she told me "no, you take it"
So I took it, I could only play it on 2 before my wife would yell from upstairs
" turn that damn thing down"
"If i turned it down anymore I would'nt be able to hear it"
"good"
So I would mutter to myself like all husbands do, and after 3 years of hardly being able to play it, I got pissed and sold it to a guy for 500 bucks.......

Now I know you didnt rip me off that amp, but thanks for the memory, a good/bad memory, but kinda funny.
I'm sure there are lots of us with similar stories out there in the big city
Peace: Joe

Re: Here's a new avatar for Reeltarded
That was quite a score! a friend of mine found a 53 telecaster in a trashcan behind a guitar shop missing most of it's parts around 1970 and after having it for a couple weeks decided he didn't want to bother with putting it back together, so he threw it away.
I really need the neck right now. He could have made $20 pretty quick.
heh
Some of my best electric stuff was purchased from bluegrassers.

I hate getting rid of anything.
Things were tight and I let a few treasures go.
Trouble is I regret selling things I had for years, even if I don't use them!

Re: Here's a new avatar for Reeltarded
I can't regret letting things go, because with the exception of stuff I bought specifically to sell, I still have it all. I might regret actually acquiring some of it: a Supro Rhythm Master guitar with a ONE BOLT NECK; an awful sounding BR-6 basket case of an amp; some no-name 2x6V6 student amp with a tweed-like covering that somebody spray painted gold. No it doesn't sound like a Deluxe.
But what I really regret are the things I passed up: when I bought my first electric guitar in the late '60s, I didn't bite on any of the custom color strats people were selling because I was used to playing a cheap-ass nylon string 3/4 size acoustic, so I reasoned I should have an acoustic-electric. Wound up with a Univox. Idiot!
I used to go into Giuliano's in White Plains when they had a wall 50 feet long with two rows of 50s and 60s strats. But they wanted almost a thousand dollars for some of those. No way! Idiot again.
