I deviated from the circuit slightly in that I used the 6V6 output section from ax84.com (I don't need 100W) and also in that various component values are slightly different, simply due to what I had available.
I deviated quite a lot from the layout as you can see from the photos, mostly because I built it on generic tag boards. I also re-designed the power supply for the 6V6's and a slightly lower B+ (320V) and I left out the FET input because from what I could tell, I wouldn't use it. My layout ended up a bit of a rat's nest, but the amp is quiet enough (hum wise) even at high volumes, so I don't feel the need to tidy it up.
I built it into a combo, mostly because I wanted to have a shot at building a speaker cab too. For the cab, again I borrowed from ax84, although their plans are for a 1x12 extension so I modified it slightly to fit my chassis. Cosmetically its a mixture of various Dumbles I saw online.
I used an Eminence Wizard which is a very efficient speaker. With the 6V6's you get a lot of bang for your buck.
My initial thoughts on playing the amp - and it goes without saying I have no experience of a real Dumble - is that although the overdrive is the main event, the clean sound is something of a revelation itself. I don't think I've ever played another amp that I liked clean with a bridge humbucker. Very sweet and rich.
Anyway, I'm very pleased with how it all turned out. I will post some sound clips when I have time to record, if anyone is interested.
Just about everything I know on the topic, I have learned either from this forum, ax84 and valvewizard, but a fair bit of problem solving went in to this amp too, and I'm happy to answer questions if it helps anyone.
Some photos - sorry for crappy phone pics.
