Weird Tonecontrol interaction on D'lite

Post by brainkillsbeercells »

Dear Gang,

first i have to apologize for the bad video quality.
(try raising brightness in player settings)

Hope you guys will let me know if this tone control interaction is normal.
As you can see, the bass control seems to raise gain 'til about 8 then the middle and treble settings seem to matter .
If the bass is below 8, middle doesn't seem to do anything.
Treble seems to act more like a gain control.
Any help appreciated.
cheers

The video does not match what I experience with tone controls.

I would respectfully suggest that something isn't wired properly. Easy to do. Even if you've checked your wiring 3 or 4 times already, look it over again & again comparing it to both schematics and layouts.

I have stared at a chassis interior for very long times convincing myself that it's wired correctly but some cosmic glitch in the universe is making my amp respond outside of the normal limits of physics and science .......

.......... only to suddenly see an error that was staring at me the entire time.

With respect, 10thtx

thanks for the reply.
as I've never played a d-style amp or seen a vid where somebody turns the knobs i wasn't sure if that's the way it's supposed to be.

I've looked at the schematics many times but I'm sure you are right about it being some error on my part. (damn cosmic glitches in the universe)

cheers

Well to be fair, the tone controls are not very robust in their effect on tone.

Plate driven tone stack is probably more to blame than anything.

But these amps sound best when turned up a bit.

Don't let that smoke out!
