NJ Ampshow - KF Memorial Amp Noodling

Here's a few minutes of noodling through the KF Memorial amp at this year's Ampshow in NJ. The clip itself is kind of funny. When it starts you can hear someone cranking through a Marshall Major down the hall which is why I have a sort of "C'mon..give me a break" posture at the beginning and I loosely emulated the riff he played. This probably also explains why later in the clip I was asking how much the 2 x 12" could take because I needed to crank it a bit. Regarding speakers...one was a Celestion Gold..not sure of the other...it was HeeBGB's cab.

No I was playing the major on 10 with a new attenuator system and I got scared of the amp when the attenuator was suddenly dailed open so I stopped playing immediately. :roll

Steve Carey of Fluxtone speakers demonstrated his attenuation system: a speaker with magnets that are electronically magnetized and the level of magnet power can be regulated with a knob on the back of the cab. He makes an celestion type speaker that I found convincing. I think it may actually be a great way to attenuate amps like the Express for bedroom use. I'm afraid it is more expensive than a DIY powersoak though.

Too bad we didn't meet!

Interesting clip. After looking at the eq/bright switch settings on the clip, it seems as though the amp is more mellow than the Express that I have been in contact with (and my clone). If you had set the amp like the one on the video, it would have been VERY bright and crispy.

It was, but you have to remember, the video camera was held at head level so is a bit woofier. If it was in direct line with the amp or where I was sitting, the result would've been brighter. We're going to have studio clips of the amp done when it travels to LA so for now, try to take the video for what it is...just a preview done on a crappy camcorder mic.
