My Small Dumbleator Build

This is my build... I posted the layout a few days back... everything went together smoothly.

This thing is a huge improvement over the kleinulator that I've been using for a few years. I should have built a d-lator the day I finished my first amp. Everything everyone always says about the amp + dumbleator being a system to get "the tone" is truth.

I used the fender standalone reverb transformer with a choke and 56k dropping resistor... the B+1/B+2 voltages are right on target. The voltages at the 12ax7 aren't perfect but they're close... I probably need to adjust the tail resistance but it already sounds great. Even in the 10x5x3 Hammond enclosure it's dead quiet.

One thing that I find weird about the dlator design is the lack of decent bleeders... After the unit has been on when you go back to standby there is still enough voltage for operation... this lasts for a while. Is that normal?

Anyway... here are some photos and the layout which I followed exact other than using isolated jacks grounded to the preamp star.

Nice job putting that together and the layout looks great.

I had a guy once told me after listening to effects run through my dlater into a Ceriatone HRM Bluesmaster 100w that he never heard a Boss Blues Driver pedal sound so good.

Everything sounds great through the Dlater.

There's not much current draw with only one preamp tube to drain the power supply, so it will "last" for a while.

Why did you add a choke?

After digging through a ton of search pages about peoples dlator builds it seems like everyone that switched from no choke to choke is glad that they did so I just went with it figuring that if anything it would help keep the unit quiet.
