Used it Friday night through my sons Bagend 15" cab.
1 The Bagend is too much. It's a high wattage effecient bass speaker. It sounded huge but the eq of the cab mixed with the bass guitar. We could feel it thump our chest but I am going to try an old Jensen I've had around for years. Hopefully it will ease things up a bit. I also have my eye on a used Laney 2x12 at a local store.
2 The amp ran very cool. Either the aluminum chassis disapates a bunch of heat ot the Hammond ao29 is a awsome PT or both.
3 I am not happy with the global MV. I see that the hybrib A uses a 47pf & a 100k tail. Does this make it a bit more transparent? I am using a 10pf & no tail.
4 The amp is happiest in both clean & overdrive with the clean volume up pretty high. 2 or 3 oclock.
5 I am using a .002 bypass on the bass pot because it's what I had. Will I hear a difference in a .001?
I think it kicks ass-especially for what I have in it. Just need to tweak a bit!
Let me know of any tweaks you've been most happy with.

I agree that these amps are very sensitive to speakers. You have to try lots of them out and decide what you like. Personally I like the EVM15 and Eminence RW&B best. They just seem to complement each other. Scumbags sound great too as do Celestion 12-65's. I have a pair of Celestion G12H80's which sound ok but are a little lacking in highs.Buschman wrote:Used it Friday night through my sons Bagend 15" cab.

Yes, the bright cap value and tail make it more open, plus they seem to tighten up the bottom end a tad. I think I settled on a 39pF on mine.2 The amp ran very cool. Either the aluminum chassis disapates a bunch of heat ot the Hammond ao29 is a awsome PT or both.

I agree. I like it at about 2:00 myself.4 The amp is happiest in both clean & overdrive with the clean volume up pretty high. 2 or 3 oclock.
I've never tried a .002 so it can't hurt to try. If you have another ,002 put the 2 in series and see what you think.5 I am using a .002 bypass on the bass pot because it's what I had. Will I hear a difference in a .001?

Great report, thx.
Re: First D'Lite gig observations
No Dumble I have ever seen had a 47pf on the master. Keep in mind Hybrid A is not a Dumble. It is a bunch of guys Frankenstein schematic of various rumour and miserable ideas.
There is also no tail on any amp I ever saw.
I have never ever ever liked the sound of anything more than 15pf on the master. Maybe Bob I has some highend hearing loss ( love ya Bob!! )
Definately reduce the .002 to a .001 - no brainer. You may notice a clearer tone.

Sure is. And I like it that way.dogears wrote:No Dumble I have ever seen had a 47pf on the master. Keep in mind Hybrid A is not a Dumble. It is a bunch of guys Frankenstein schematic of various rumour and miserable ideas.

Not me. I've had my hearing tested many times. The last time I was told I have the hearing of a 12 year old, my hearing is actualy sensitive on the "high" frequencies, 4-8K where they actually test, not true high frequencies where the overtones live.
I think it's more related to my speaker choice. I simply like darker speakers and I find that the 39pF tightens up the bottom end as well as adding sparkle.

Re: First D'Lite gig observations
I like 47pf on the clean master of an HRM, I usually am more like 15-30pf on a global master.

Allrighty then, It's great to know there is a consensus on this.

First thing I will do is find a speaker config that I like. I also have to try the Vishay Dale 65 resistors. I will get a .001 bypass on the bass pot & go from there.
Thanks for the input. I am pretty happy with it. I would just like to tweak for the most harmonics & bloom I can get.

Re: First D'Lite gig observations
my 2 cents: Using a single coil guitar, I tried small value bleeders on my clean master and OD level (HRM) and ended up removing them. They are ok for clean stuff but cause harshness when things start to saturate. Same for the bright switch cap on the volume pot.

						Re: First D'Lite gig observations
I had forgotten to put the 390 resistor across the precence pot. I also changed the bass bypass cap to .001. It's a different amp now. Much crisper & I can squeeze into a harmonic on almost any note it seems. I am also finding that the clean channel is pretty distorted at gig volume so I might go back to 6l6s or try to tame plates & cathodes a bit. It would be great to have BF Fender there but mine is a bit grittier than that. I would sure hate to screw up the overdrive tone now. I find that it really likes a humbucker. Thanks for all the input!
