Twrecks.... maybe time for a new build....

Post by Bow »

Hello all.. I'm new to the forum, but not to tube amp building.

I was reading the liner notes of the new Bon Jovi "Have A Nice Day" CD and read Richie Sambora thanked "Train Wreck Circuits"..

SO I got to thinking about it and decided to look into the Twreck amps... and stubmled rather quickly onto this forum. Very Nice...

I saw a small mention of Sambora and Komet in the same sentence...

I was cruising the forum archives and saw that the Express A1a schematic is pretty close to the real thing? what about the Komet.. anyone have anything?

thanks

Bow,

Welcome to this board. I have not info for you regarding Sambora or Komet, but I thought due to the lack of response to your question I could at least say, "hi". I hope you find the answers to your questions. Hopefully some members here can help. Good Luck.

There are pictures of the Komet in the files section, they are pretty useful, you can see everything.

Bow,
As the admin of the site, let me welcome you to the forum! There are a lot of people here that have a wealth of knowledge and it's really incredible the stuff you can learn.

The schematic that most agree is the "one" is the "1990 Trainwreck Express "Kelly" by David Hicks" in the Files/Schematics section.

I've seen Sambora on a couple of TV gigs with a Komet but that's all I have seen.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the replies everyone... due to Hurricane Rita, this is the fist time I has been able to check in to the website in a few days.

I will be looking to build one soon.. maybe a 6V6 version. I like lower power/low volume big sounding amps.

A Twreck could be a nice change from the Marshall styles I usually build.
