What output Txer to use?

Post by danotron »

I am gathering parts to build a 102. I will be using Hammond transformers because I can get a good price.

I see that Hammond offers two fender style 100 watt output transformers. One has a primary of 2000 c.t (1760W) and the other has a primary of 2350 c.t. (1750D).

Can anyone tell me what difference these two primary impedances would make? Will one break up faster then the other? Will one sound "fuller" then the other? Which one should I buy?

Thanks

Dan

The 1760W 2K primary looks better to me.

The 1750D 2350k has a weird feed back winding orange and white wires.

I agree, these are great transformers!! Great prices too.
Built to the original Schumacher specs.

I have used several over the past couple of years and have always worked well.

a hammond OT sounds like...a hammond OT - ie flat and not special.

dont do it. mercury or dynaco - or weber also decent if you need to save the $$$. But hammond OT - never, waste of dollars for a dclone.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds
