New 2204'ish Build

Post by jeff12 »

Here is my new 2204'ish build using transformers I had laying around.
Checking voltages now, should have it up and running soon.
If all works out well I will most likely add some mods to it.
Want to hear it first as is. Never used Mojo Dijon caps before, hope I like them. :) Used a smaller than standard chassis for this model amp and aluminum. I want to put it in a small box Marshall style cabinet. More than likely will have to a make faceplate for this amp. Have to get Marshall style knobs yet too, may not sound right with Fender style knobs.

All up and running after a few minor tweaks. Output transformer leads were backwards  OUCH. Also a minor preamp wiring issue.
Now it's time to try a few mods.

I like the PEC's for volume and tone, not so good as a replacement in a VVR circuit. Nice taper and feel. I use them on almost everything I build now.
Ground buss has to be wired different because you can't solder to them but that is an easy fix.

I don't think you need to solder to the bodies anyway. I've heard a LOT of opinions I respect that say it's not a good idea. But, that's just me.

Thanks, got the PEC's from CE Distribution, have to have an account with them but you can also get them from Antique Electronic Supply. That is their retail outlet. Not sure just what mods to do yet. Like the amp through 65 watt Celestions in a 4x12 better than Vintage 30's. 4x12. Still working on what it sounds like stock with different tubes and speakers before I decide what mods are needed if any. :D

That's a really tight, nice looking build. Are those Belton tube sockets ?
