AB763 lead dress question.

Post by Randall »

I'm wiring up a turret board into a DRRI chassis. At first I tried running the plate supply jumper wires under the board against the chassis, thinking it would shunt some of the field. But as I am ready to install the wired board, it occurs to me that my inputs and volume runs are under there in close proximity.

So, I'm thinking that wasn't such a good idea after all. Perhaps I should just fly them above the board? I think I just answered my own question.

Preamp plate supplies won't have much ripply hum, but mind the phase relationships of signal carrying wires in close proximity. You do not want post-tone recovery signals anywhere near your inputs. The tone control leads themselves can be very sensitive. If you're doing a reverb model, these leads will be in phase with the reverb mix output so keep them well away.
