cheap resistors

Post by Phil_S »

I feel the need to blow off steam. I just built a board and made the mistake of ordering some no-name carbon film 1/2W from what I thought was a reliable supplier for guitar amp builders. The leads are cheesy thin and not quite long enough to comfortably span a 2" turret board. I had to use the holes in the top of the turrets and I don't like to do that because removal is quite difficult.

I'm not really a fan of CF resistors, but was in a cheap mood when I ordered.

Note to self. Keep mood in check. Watch out. Order carefully. Pay for the 1W kind if you need to.

For that matter, I noticed that the wires on the last batch of CC resistors I bought were several mm short of the older stock I had. I suppose it's part and parcel of smaller portions you now get for the same price you once paid.

MBAs.

I imagine if I time traveled 100 years into the future, hamburgers would be one inch in diameter, and 16 oz cans of salmon would be cone shaped and only 8 oz.

Make an inverse cone in the bottom like they do with wine, it gives an illusion of bigger container.

Won a hundred bucks off a guy (a lawyer) at a party. Told him I could drink wine from his fancy bottle without opening it, or breaking the glass.

Turned it upside down and poured wine into the depression.

Anyone remember the life-sized submarine for $1?

It's plans for a plywood submarine. I know a 6 year old who want's his dollar back.

Old gruff looking guy walks into a bar, sits down, orders a beer and drinks it straight down. He looks at the young guy on the next bar-stool and says "I'll bet you a beer I can bite my eye."

Young guys thinks for a second and says "I'll take that bet!"

The old dude yanks out his glass eye, bites it, and laughs. The young guy losing the bet orders him a beer like he promised. Old guy quaffs it straight down.

A minute later the old man says "You seem like a decent kid .... I'll give you a chance to get even .... I bet you a beer I can bite my other eye?"

The kids thinks, and figures there's no way the gruff old man can have two glass eyes, so he grins and says "You're on!"

Old guy pulls out his false-teeth and bites his other eye.
