Guys

You can see this really is selling a business. You could probably double or triple your money selling each piece individually...but the time invoved to do that would be exhausting! Years and years to go thru all that stuff.

And beacause of that...I'm out!

The 7.75% sales tax alone is $38,750! Unless you have an Illinois exemption certificate.

I'm going to have to pass ..... no way can I cram all that into my basement. Plus, the wife would have a fit.

Honestly, if I thought he had a Knight PA3235C in there, I'd dig through there like a skunk lookin' for an ant mound.

At the end of the list, almost as an afterthought, some blackface Fender amps. Fuck. Me.

A mess is right. There is a guy in my area who had an old supermarket building LOADED floor to ceiling with this kind of stuff. Anything worth a damn was picked over by me and many others. What's left is a huge amount of what is basically trash. Sounds good on the surface until you start really looking at it. Oh, this doesn't work either!?!?

Trash and treasure....for example, trash:
Pioneer
1 model SX-1280 receiver
1 model SX-1250 receiver
1 model SX-1050 receiver
1 model SX-636 receiver
These are from the early 1970's to maybe 1980? They are very nice low/medium power solid state units. I'd offer $40 each in working condition.

Treasure:
JBL speakers
4 D130
4 D131
Maybe worth ~$100 each in tip top condition.

Possibly many desirable tube amps, but all will probably need cap jobs.

It would take years to dispose of the inventory at retail and chances are you will get stuck with 50% of it or more. Suppose you could sell 50% of it for $1m. Is it worth taking the chance? High stakes if you ask me.

Never mind, I don't have $500K.

The financial analyst part of me says run away from that deal .... fast.

Way too much risk even at one-fifth of that price-point. There are other substantial expenses involved with acquisition of that inventory (transport, warehousing, insurance, security). The holding costs alone would be onerous.

How about we sell shares here on TAG to raise purchase price plus wages for one year. Majority holder gets the job. Dividends paid after stock is sold off.

It's bad plan. You can't make a bad plan work out without being a government thug.

That stuff looks all shiny but it's a sticky trap, like a roach motel.. we'd all lose our asses.
