New Scumback & WCR clips coming soon

[Scumback Speakers]

I'm going to be producing some new clips for the latest Scumback speakers along with WCR Pickups in about a month. Instead of a bunch of high end boutique gear, we're going to use standard Metro amp kits, and other lower priced amps to show how you can improve your tone for less than buying a $4000 Les Paul or Custom Shop Strat.

The goal is to use a decent LP clone (Orville, Burny, Greco) or Strat with stock pickups on one clip, and then the same clip with the WCR pickups. We'll match up the proper speakers for the amp tone's and then the player can hear the improvements made.

There are a lot of decent clones out there that can be significantly improved with the right pots, caps & pickups, and that's what we're going to show with these clips.

Since many players can't afford a really high end amp head ($3000 or more), the idea was to use amp heads made from decent kits (Metro, etc) to show how you could get a better guitar tone without breaking the bank.

We'll be doing the recording sessions in early March, and should have them ready to listen to by the 15th if all goes well.

Amps used will be a Vox AC30, Metro 50w/100w heads I built, and a TrainWreck clone.

I hate to use the term "epic", but I've heard the first two of the clips that are coming out later this week.

There will be...gulp...535 clips.

That's a shitload of clips by anyone's standards...I think.

I'll post some teasers as they show up with the mixes leveled & finished.

14 pickup settings, 5 amps, 13 speakers. I had to make decisions on which speakers wouldn't be used with certain amps...such as Alnicos with hard rock/heavy metal tones. That didn't make sense since no heavy rock players ask for them.

But it could have been...910 clips if I didn't trim the herd.

Nuts, huh?

Here's one of the new tracks...the following gear was used. It's got a little too much bass and kick drum, and the final master will be done tomorrow, but I promised you a teaser...so here you go. It cooks a little.

Guitar: SG Special w/WCR Guitar G90 pickups (bridge)
Amp: Splawn Nitro w/FJA mods
Speaker: J75 65w, small dust cap
