New virtual amp build

Post by dass101 »

I decided to learn some CAD, mainly Solidworks, and what else could I possibly choose as my first project? An amp chassis!

Here is where I got so far, this is a 2xEl84 Rocket inspired amp, that I also plan to build in the near future (I have all transformers and parts). All parts were modeled by me based on actual components.

Hope you enjoy :)

Thats great!

Do you have created a library with separate elements for tubes etc?
My son is using solid works at the university, he offered my already 3D design help regarding the mechanics. Some predefined elements would accelerate that work.

The idea in the first place was just to design the chassis so I can have it laser cut, with all socket and pot holes, but then I started modelling all the other components because I wanted to see how everything will fit. I was actually very helpful, because of that I could adjust the chassis dimensions and layout.
I didn't use any library parts, they are all actual parts that I have for the amp that I modeled by measuring and studying them.
