2 Rocket Build questions

Post by yalesmith »

I am in the middle of a Rocket build for my brother and starting a rocket for myself. My rocket will be an exact clone, but wanted to add some flexibility on the amp I am building for my brother. I am thinking about adding a PIG control and a bright/fat switch. my question are

1.) can I wire a bright/fat switch to the rocket ala the one on my liverpool and Express?

2.) The PIG control - I am assuming than when turned all the way down the control is essentially Off? I undersand that it is not bypassed, but off

3.) Lastly, 250 OHM resistors on the screens are fine?

4.) Does anyone know what Power transformer was used on the original?

My brother wanted a clean amp wih the ability for some dirt. HE runs abunch of geranuim (sp) based pedals i built for him.

Thanks

Yes - and even take it a step further if you use a dpdt switch you could add a bright cap and also a boost function by adding a cathode bias bypass cap on the 2nd stage... lots of options!

Yes that is true. However, you could potentially put a "pigtail" resistor in series with the ground path and create a lower limit.

I see 100R 5W resistors on the Taylor schematic so i think 250 would probably work out fine... I am curious why you want to use them?

Yes a few folks do - getting that info in the public forum has not happened yet... go with the trend that has used 250-0-250 to 280-0-280 and you will be in good company.

The Rocket loves pedals, it will be a very good choice!

Lower the V1 plate from 220k to 120k to get clean with ability to get dirt at higher level = more clean headroom.
