Michael Landau at the Baked Potato last week

Post by AmpRX »

Gentlemen, I went to see Michael Landau last week at the Baked Potato while I was at the NAMM show. I almost left because there were no seats, I was hungry and the place was too hot but glad I didn't because it was a spectacular performance. The music was excellent and his tone may have been the best I have ever heard. He has an amazing command of his strat and the Dumble ODS through a Marshall 4x12 was more than special. Amazing clean and and OD tones. Spectacular in every way.

Sounds like a great show.
From the videos of the Baked Potato, it looks like a very tiny stage.
Doesn't seem like it would take much to be too loud in there either.

It is a small venue but the music was very dynamic. When it was loud it wasn't ear splitting. It was a very good loud!

The cab was an old Marshall so I assume it was closed back. It was backed up right up against the wall. Didn't check out the fx.....

Thanks... bet its a lexicon alex or something for verb.

He gets great sounds wondering about his settings and what volume he plays that ods at...

Anyone catch a glimpse or close view of his settings ?
Thanks again

Saw Mike Last year (2011) at the baked potato. Mike's tone was amazing. His playing style matched the note bloom & harmonic overtones of that dumble nicely...... "I'm Buzzed" was epic.......

He was also using an Arion SCH-1 for some leslie/warbly kind of sounds- sounded great.

Luckily I recorded the show with my zoom hd :) for personal reference..

Any insight as to what model/type/style of D Mike's amp is? HRM? BM? Skyliner? EL34 or 6L6's?

"I spoke with Michael at the Baked Potato during NAMM week.

He waited at least 6 years for the amp. According to Mike, it is a 6L6 with HRM. He did not know whether it is a Bluesmaster. He mentioned it being a hybrid of stuff from the Ultraphonix and others. He went to Alexanders a bunch of times to tune and tweak it.

Hope this helps."

Here's a reply to a thread I started around the time he got it......Info is from Dogears...
