Finishing Rocket faceplate

Post by Lublin »

I've got a Rocket faceplate on order with the current offer taking place in the classifieds but I have no idea how to finish mine when I receive it.

I need it to match this cab:

Can you guys please offer up some tips? PM them if you have to.

Thanks!

Sherwin willians offers stain matching. bring in the cabinet and faceplate. they can mix up a custom stain/finish to match.

Cherry will darken in sunlight.

Any oil finish will also darken the wood as well.

A few days in the sun should tan it up nicely.

Cool tips. I'll try to stick it in the sun when it arrives and see how far that gets it. Thanks!

Yeah, I have a nice futon frame that is all cherry and it sits in front of a large window, it didn't take long at all before it darkened and it has a tung oil finish.

Try mineral spirits to pop the figuring followed by Tru-Oil.
Works for me.
