Eric Clapton / Roger Daltry

Post by Bob S »

Was at an open air Clapton / Daltry gig last night. The wife wanted to see Clapton - not usually my thing, but I figured there's always beer. Daltry did a good job warming up for Clapton, but the sound was awful. I first put it down to the PA. Then Clapton came on and I must admit the tone made me drool. Low & mid heaven. Even decent highs. Couldn't see his rig from where I was, but it sounded a lot like the Beano vibe of old.
He still has some tidy blues licks and doesn't rely on an unknown second lead to fill in the blanks on stage.

This year I saw Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood
Mostly Steve Winwood and not much Clapton
was a little disapointed, But it was at the Hollywood Bowl.

Sound was good....

Clapton and Winwood together in Blind Faith... Saw them in Toronto in '69(?).

Their one and only tour.
