Ahh, the velvet Tolex®...

Sergio, As velvety as that stuff may appear it is actually suede leather as in Cow hide. At least here in the US it's getting
very difficult to obtain the large pieces needed for an amp head.
To clarify, large pieces with a uniform texture. They closed the last leather mill in Santa Cruz a decade ago to put up condos.

Italy may be an altogether different story as I notice you folks
can get just about anything in a gorgeous leather covering.

The leather covering is another Dumble signature I believe.

There is some talk about it here https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.php?t=10479 as well as some reference to a source or two.

It could well have been alcantara rather than genuine suede, which is a synthetic and very hard-wearing suede.

It's often used in cars for the central panels on sports seats where you want a lot of grip and wear-resistance to last for years, so it would be ideal for a covering like this.

Sergio,

I've gotten suede from Italy via eBay, the pieces are typically smaller and it took 3 pieces to get enough to do an amp.

Check out the blue suede amp on my website.

www.claramps.com

I get the suede from a place called Tandy Leather in Calgary. It's not cheap.
Crystal latice or vacuum, that is the question.

It's quite easy to get the suede over here in Italy, but it ain't easy to pay for it.
easily you can spend some 100 euros just for an head, and something around 250 euros for a 2x12.
Alcantara is nice but here goes for roughly the same price as leather, if not more.
I can get different types of natural leather to cover my amps, also connelly leather as Ferrari interiors, but it's a very costly option , and really delicate too.

thanks Mark .
i hope I'll be able to post some pictures of my new amps in a month or something like that.
I would like to point out thet in no way I'm trying to replicate perfectly some famous sounds, but Let's say that I'm trying to do my best to get the result that my customers desire. And this is quite funny as Not a single amp is similar to the other.
I can't say it's a routine job.!

As a curiosity, my great friend and customer Lello Panico, has released a CD in which Robben appears as Special guest, and it's fun to hear the amp you made, side by side with the most famos D sound around.
Definitely different sounds, but both really nice IMHO.
