TC 2290 Tech Work

Post by ToneMerc »

Anyone know of any current or former TC Electronics folks that are doing service on the 2290?

Don't know a tech, but I do know something about the pain of digital obsolescence. Jim Williams at Audio Upgrades (near LA) might know if anyone still does tech work on them.

As really good as some old/obsolete high-end digital gear can sound (I think they took the analog components more seriously), the lack of support and replacement parts makes it difficult. When a more recent, supported work-alike comes along, it's the path of least resistance, even if something is lost. Me, I'm wondering when an old Lexicon box I have will finally become a door stop -- there was a guy doing third party support of it, but he stopped supporting that box.

(If I were to have any expectation of legacy support for a new digital processor from one of the big companies, it looks to me like Eventide has the best track record. It's unclear, though, whether they will be so generous when the current stomp pedals are put out to pasture.)
