TwoRocks are extremely close tonally and feel wise. I could easily fool you with clips of the Emmy and the Dumble, my Sig V1 and Dumble, my Custom and Dumble,
Mr Dumble..
The sound and feel you you experience when going between different amps might feel similar to you but I guarantee you they WILL!! feel different to me..
To others it might not even matter!!.. I am not doubting your word that to you they might feel or sound the same.. however to pass that judgement on to me or others is rather presumptuous don't you think..Iv'e seen you play and you play nothing like me!!
You are one man with one opinion and one man might know his tone but no one man knows the tone of another..What he feels hears and experiences and is inspired or emotionally moved when playing through a fine musical instrument is one of a very personal experience..This I am passionate about!!.. I am glad you have amps that inspire you and consider VERY GOOD..That's what it's all about..

Good Luck!!

Disagree. You are falling into the vintage is better thing. Sorry, I dont buy it, and I ownd #183. My TwoRocks felt pretty much the same as 183, even though they are vastly different. Do different players need different amps for their style? Of course. My friend thought his Marshall DSL smoked #183, and for his playing it did. Maybe your playing too, I have no idea. To each their own, nothing new there.

[quote="Mr Dumble"]Here is an example for you. #183, which is EL34s, and a TwoRock Custom which is 6L6. In the room, the amps are even closer than these clips show. I did not even try to dial the amps in to sound the same. Both clips are with all controls around noon. ES335 straight into both amps in a mesa cab with G12h30 speakers. (The bloom on the Dumble is simply the best I have ever heard.)

Insane Dumble #183 tone. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... i&newref=1

Insane TwoRock Custom Tone: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... i&newref=1

Sorry Bro no way
Have you been drinking the Cool Aid again ?
I just don't hear it

TAG Your totally missing my point!!.. I said they might sound the same to you.. But how can you presume it will sound the same to me!!..I might hear things you are not..Consider it.

Believe me I am not on a Vintage is better kick here.. I built an amp for well known player Tom Principato who owns some of the most collectible vintage amps around and has been playing them for decades!!..Vintage Guitar even did an article on him and his killer vintage collection.. If you notice on the pic of him playing with Sonny Landreth you will see the VVT (No NOS Parts).. It's now his #1 amp..I am way past the vintage is better thing believe me!!

Disagree. Most guys hear things in a very similar fasion. Look no farther than Dumbles. Most consider Fords Blue line amp, #183, Landreths, older Carltons and a few others to be the best of the best. For Marshalls, loook at VanHalens brown sound. Claptons "beano" tone. Etc Etc. Sure there are exceptions, and you may be one, but I doubt it.

Huh?? No mention of Ford's amps after Blueline? Smoking crack Mr. Dumble? Ford's Jing Chi tones are some of the best ever. As are Handful of Blues!!

Who, other than you, places 183 above Ford's tan Dumble?? Nobody??

Btw, remixed Kalimba with stereo Lexicon verb.

I also will record the GW Phat Momma tomorrow on the same backing as I recorded 183. Let's see how similar they can sound!

Oh, and keep the off topic crap off of my thread before I go mod apeshit deleting posts.

Maybe start a thread talking about 25 year old versus new or something.

I was there. Both amps, side by side!! Played them at length. Apples and Oranges. Different in every way.

I cant stand the post Blue line amp. At least live. The mid spike and upper end ripped my ears to shreds both times I saw him post BL. I actually dug his fender/Zendrive tone more the last time I saw him. Sounded more BL to me. :) All personal taste.

Mr Dumble,

IMO it is absolutely OK that you are passionate in your thinking and posting. And IMO it is OK, too, that it's your strong personal believe that your personal taste, perspective and perception is the only correct one and the overall best, as you perceive it to be in accord with the personal taste, perspective and perception of "most guys". And IMO it is absolutely OK, too, that because you obviously perceive your personal taste, perspective and perception to be superior, you like that much to crusade at Speakers' Corner.

But when others here, like Tony, post their personal perspectives and express how they perceive things, then to write, "I doubt it" that he tells truthfully what he perceives and thinks, is IMO far far away from what "most guys" will perceive to be a tasteful behaviour of a member of an internet forum.

Sorry for this short meta post.

Cheers,

Max

Topic: "Kalimba - New clip demoing both Ojai and Tag circuit"

And IMO it is not that surprising that after a great demo (my compliments!) of two closely related circuits

- one being a sort of replica of Robben's current amp, the guy who played "Politician" ("Mystic Mile")

- one being a sort of replica of #183, the amp that has been judged by some here to "nail Robben's Politician tone"

a discussion arises which one of these two replicas is closer to the original, sounds "better" from the different perspectives of the members here, etc. etc.

And IMO noone here has to go or should go through something that he does not like: the posting and reading of posts is completely voluntary AFAIK.

Sorry again for my next meta and back now to the topic.

Have a nice sunday,

Max
